Sex for payment is when you have sex or perform a sexual act in return for something. Sex may, for example, mean that you

- show yourself on a webcam

- watch while someone masturbates

- masturbate in front of someone

- have sex or perform sexual acts with someone.

Payment may take the form of money, somewhere to sleep, a lift somewhere, a smartphone, clothes, cigarettes, alcohol or drugs.

There are many reasons why someone has sex for payment. It may be to make money. It may be because you have been deceived or forced. Or it may be because it feels exciting and is a form of affirmation.

It is not forbidden to sell sex in Sweden. But it is forbidden to buy sex.

You are entitled to protection and support

Would you like support in order to change your situation? Do you need someone to talk to? The situation can vary in cases where people have sex for payment. Some people feel OK, while others feel bad and struggle with a lot of problems. Regardless of how you feel, you are entitled to support that is adapted to you and your situation.

If you have been subjected to violence, you are entitled to information, protection and support. You can also have someone to talk to. If you have children they are also entitled to support.
